Terrorizer - "Hordes Of Zombies" (2012)

Po kiepskim płytowym powrocie Terrorizer, tego samego roku (czyli w 2006) niestety zmarło się Jessemu Pintado, a owy zespół - tym razem już pod 100%-ym dowództwem Pete'a Sandovala - postanowił...3 lata później reaktywować się po raz kolejny i uderzyć z longplayem! Wszystko zatem ponownie wskazywało, że trzeba będzie tę legendarną grupę zjechać, ba!, nawet bardziej niż ostatnio. No i tym większym zaskoczeniem okazał się być dla mnie "Hordes Of Zombies", ponieważ nowo-starej ekipie z Terrorizera o dziwo udało się nagrać przyzwoity album, i to z Anthonym Rezhawkiem, którego poprzednio na "Darker Days Ahead" zdecydowanie nie polubiłem! 

Trzeba jednak przyznać, że w przeciwieństwie do "dwójki", Rezhawk sprężył się i nagrał dużo intensywniejsze oraz - przede wszystkim - "żywsze" growle w porównaniu do "Darker...", zaś pozostali towarzyszący Sandovalowi muzycy pokazali się z nieco ciekawszej strony jak na death-grindowe standardy, tj. gitarzystka Katina Culture wniosła więcej techniki i death metalowego feelingu (łącznie z solówkami), a na basie gościnnie odświeżył zespół sam...David Vincent (w jego przypadku cieszy w ogóle fakt, że się pojawił)! O filarze grupy, Commando, nie będę się rozwodził (odsyłam do paru innych recenzji), poziom bębnienia także i tutaj utrzymał on kurewsko wysoki.

Muzyka. Ta może poszczycić się z powrotem niezłą brutalnością, a przy tym nie gorszą chwytliwością, oczywiście jak na ramy, w których grupa się tutaj obraca. Objętościowo, utworów na "Hordes..." znalazło się naprawdę sporo (bo wliczając intro aż 15), ale w większości są to strzały udane. Niektóre niby kończą się przedwcześnie i często nie wykraczają ponad jeden/dwa motywy, aczkolwiek z drugiej strony, nie ma tego złego na płycie tak dużo. Przy takich numerach jak "Ignorance And Apathy", "Malevolent Ghosts", "Wretched", "Prospect Of Oblivion" czy "Generation Chaos" słychać power, zaangażowanie i pomysły na riffy. Na "Darker..." nawet z takimi - wydawać by się mogło - prostymi rzeczami, zespół miał problem.

Dobre wrażenie robi też produkcja. Ta została zrobiona - w przeciwieństwie do swojego poprzednika - pod współczesne standardy, ale na szczęście bez przesadnej sterylności czy innych nowomodnych sztuczek, za to dosyć czytelnie i z zachowaniem "pierwotnej" mocy (choć trzeba przyznać, że nad werblem można było popracować). Cała płyta jest więc warta polecenia. Mając na uwadze słabiutki poziom "Darker Days Ahead", średnio obiecujący skład i kiepską promocję, mogła wyjść z tego przecież katastrofa...

After the terrible record return of Terrorizer, in the same year (i.e. 2006), unfortunately, Jesse Pintado died, and the band - this time under the 100% command of Pete Sandoval - decided to...reactivate 3 years later once again and hit with the next lp! So everything indicated again that this legendary group would have to be very bad, even more so than the last time. And the bigger surprise for me turned out to be "Hordes Of Zombies", because the new-old line-up from Terrorizer surprisingly managed to record a decent album. And with Anthony Rezhawk, who I definitely did not like on "Darker Days Ahead"! 

One has to admit, however, that in contrast to the "Darker...", Rezhawk recorded much more intense and - most of all - "livelier" growls compared to previous album, while the other musicians accompanying Sandoval showed themselves from a slightly more interesting side as to death-grind standards. Guitarist Katina Culture brought more technique and death metal feeling (including solos), and the bass was refreshed by...David Vincent (in his case, he's glad that he appeared)! I won't go into detail about the pillar of the group, Commando (refer to a couple of other my reviews), but the drumming level was kept very high here as well. 

Music. This one can boast of being quite brutal again, and at the same time not worse catchiness, of course, for the standards in which the group plays here. In terms of number of tracks, there were a lot of songs on "Hordes..." (including the intro as many as 15), but most of them were successful. Some seem to end prematurely and often do not go beyond one/two themes, but on the other hand, there is not so much that is bad on the album. With tracks like "Ignorance And Apathy", "Malevolent Ghosts", "Wretched", "Prospect Of Oblivion" or "Generation Chaos" you can hear power, commitment and riff ideas. On "Darker..." even with such seemingly simple things, the band had a problem. 

Production also makes a good impression. This one was made - in contrast to its predecessor - to modern standards, but fortunately without excessive sterility or other newfangled tricks, but quite legible and with the "original" power (although I have to admit that the snare could be better). So the whole album is worth recommending. Considering the weak level of "Darker Days Ahead", moderately promising line-up and poor promotion, it could have turned out to be a monstrous disaster...
