Pan.Thy.Monium - ".....Dawn/Dream II" (2010)

Chyba nie muszę wspominać jak bardzo wyjątkowym projektem był Pan.Thy.Monium. Nie no, muszę, wszak mowa o kapeli cholernie nietuzinkowej, a jednocześnie o bardzo unikalnym stylu i całościowo niestety trochę dziś zapomnianej. Tak się składa, że geniusz muzyki Pan.Thy.Monium zaczynał już eksplodować przed okresem wydawania "Dawn Of Dreams", ponieważ z ich "najpierwsiejszych" nagrań, czyli pierwszego demo oraz epki. No a to automatycznie oznacza, że te są warte poznania w równym stopniu co ich "właściwe" longi. Za sprawą The Crypt dostęp do tych płyt stał się więc jeszcze łatwiejszy (mowa o wersji fizycznej), a oba te wydawnictwa zamieszczono w formacie kompilacji na jednym krążku.

W ten sposób można prześledzić historię tego wyjątkowego zespołu jeszcze dokładniej, dosłownie od samych korzeni. Na start trafia demo ".....Dawn", najsurowsze wydawnictwo Pan.Thy.Monium i przez to też brzmiące najbardziej podziemnie. Co ciekawe, znalazły się tutaj aż dwa utwory ("Zenotaffph" i "Klievieage"), które pojawiły się później na "Khaooohs", co prawda w wersjach mocno surowych i mniej dopieszczonych, ale pod względem aranżacji nie odbiegających zbytnio od tych "oficjalnych" z albumu. Kolejnym powtórzonym utworem w formie outrosa jest oczywiście "Ekkoheece", który znalazł się zarówno na "Dawn Of Dreams" oraz "Khaooohs", ale to o "Dauwhnn" można mówić jako o największej atrakcji ".....Dawn" - jedyny z tego krążka, który nie został powtórzony później, a prezentuje równie wysoki poziom co inne utwory. Zawiera on wszystko co charakterystyczne dla Pan.Thy.Monium (może za wyjątkiem charakterystycznych dla nich cykających zegarów): sporo brutalności, dziwaczne klawisze, skrajnie zróżnicowane zmiany rytmu i odpowiedni ciężar.

Dalej pojawia się już epka "Dream II", czyli z perspektywy ".....Dawn" jeszcze większy rarytas, ponieważ materiał w całości niepowtórzony na późniejszych krążkach. Poza żartobliwym outrem pt. "Vvoiiccheeces", krążek ten to awangardowy death-doom bliski brzmieniom z debiutu, ale znacznie bardziej podziemny i nastawiony na te szybsze tempa w porównaniu do "pełnych" krążków. Na nim pojawiły się też wspomniane cykające zegary! Pozostałe składowe już nie odbiegają tak mocno od tego co było wcześniej na demówce, toteż oba materiały utrzymują podobnie wysoki poziom i w jednakowym stopniu intrygują.

No więc, ".....Dawn/Dream II" to wydawnictwo zdecydowanie warte odkopania, w szczególności dla fanów Pan.Thy.Monium czy szeroko pojętej awangardy. Mimo trzech genialnych płyt na koncie, formacja ta pozostawiła pewien niedosyt i narobiła apetytu na znacznie więcej. Niestety, szybko się okazało, że nie ma co liczyć na reaktywację z ich strony (i...w sumie to dobrze), w związku z czym, oba te pomniejsze wydawnictwa można traktować jako jeden z dodatkowych albumów. Już na tamtym etapie była to bowiem muzyka absolutnie wyjątkowa, wizjonerska i wykraczająca ponad jakąś tam metalową progresję. Jak na wydawniczą ciekawostkę, to przecież olbrzymia rekomendacja.

I don't think I need to mention how special Pan.Thy.Monium was. No, I have to, after all, we are talking about a very remarkable band, and at the same time a very unique style and, unfortunately, a bit forgotten. It just so happens that the genius of Pan.Thy.Monium was already exploding before "Dawn Of Dreams" was released, because of their "first of first" recordings, i.e. the first demo and ep. And that automatically means that they are worth knowing as much as their "proper" longs. By The Crypt, access to these discs has become even easier (I am talking about the physical version), and both of these releases are included in a compilation format on one disc. 

In this way, the history of this unique ensemble can be traced even more closely, literally from the very first recordings. The demo ".....Dawn", the strictest release by Pan.Thy.Monium and thus also the most underground sounding, is launched. Interestingly, there are as many as two songs here ("Zenotaffph" and "Klievieage"), which later appeared on "Khaooohs", although in very raw and less polished versions, but in terms of arrangements that did not differ much from the "official" ones from the album. Another track repeated in the form of an outros is of course "Ekkoheece", which was featured on both "Dawn Of Dreams" and "Khaooohs", but the "Dauwhnn" can be called the biggest attraction on ".....Dawn" - the only one of this disc was not repeated later, and presents the same high standard as the other songs. It contains everything that is characteristic of Pan.Thy.Monium (maybe except for the ticking clocks that are characteristic of them): a lot of brutality, bizarre keyboards, extremely varied rhythm changes and appropriate heavy sound. 

Then the ep "Dream II" appears, that is, from the perspective of ".....Dawn", an even greater rarity, because the material is completely unique on later discs. Apart from the humorous outro "Vvoiiccheeces", this disc is an avant-garde death-doom close to the sounds from the debut, but much more underground and focused on these faster paces compared to "full" discs. The aforementioned ticking clocks also appeared on it! The other components do not differ so much from what was previously on the demo, so both materials maintain a similar high level and intrigue to the same extent. 

Well, ".....Dawn/Dream II" is a release definitely worth reminding out, especially for fans of Pan.Thy.Monium or the broadly understood avant-garde. Despite three albums on the account, this formation left a certain dissatisfaction and aroused an appetite for much more, but as it quickly turned out that this project cannot be reactivated (and I do not wish them to do so), both of these smaller releases can be treated as as one of the additional albums. Already at that time it was absolutely unique, visionary music that went beyond any kind of metal progression. As for a curiosity, it's a huge recommendation.
