Dead Congregation - "Promulgation Of The Fall" (2014)

Powoli, iście doomowo zabierali się Grecy z Dead Congregation za nagranie następcy "Graves Of The Archangels". Przy obecnym napływie (często gównianej) muzyki, nie ma co jednak krytykować zespołu za taką obsuwę - lepiej wydawać albumy z dłuższymi przerwami, a dobrze przemyślane, niż taśmowo i nijako. Okej, spory czas oczekiwania wiąże się też z przesadnym wyrafinowaniem czy zanikiem autentyczności, ale już śpieszę zasygnalizować, że o takich rzeczach w przypadku Dead Congregation nie ma absolutnie mowy. "Promulgation Of The Fall" jest jednym z tych przykładów, gdzie upływ czasu nie zaniechał u nich pasji w tworzeniu sensownej muzyki. Wręcz przeciwnie, o "Promulgation..." można - w pewnym sensie - powiedzieć jako o nowej jakości dla grupy.

A ta objawia się...jeszcze mocniejszym zejściem do podziemia! Znaczy to tyle, że zespół postanowił położyć znacznie większy nacisk na brzydotę i pierwotność. Trzeba przy tym jednak zaznaczyć, że Grecy nie uczynili tego w klasycznym rozumieniu. Otóż, wcześniejszy, ponury klimat i brutalność wciąż są tu wyraźnie obecne. Ba, śmiem nawet stwierdzić, że "Promulgation..." przebija "Graves..." pod względem grzania na najwyższych obrotach (a prędkości osiągnięte przez V.V. bywają naprawdę zabójcze - pierwsze lepsze przykłady: "Nigredo" i "From A Wretched Womb"), a to już niezwykle ciekawy wynik z perspektywy wspomnianej, większej obskurności. 

Na "Promulgation..." powstała bowiem muzyka, która potrafi urzekać ciężarem (np. w tytułowcu, "Schizma" czy "Serpentskin") i brutalnością ("Only Ashes Remain", "Immaculate Poison" czy wymienione wyżej "Nigredo" oraz "From A Wretched Womb"), a czasem to bywa i tak, że...obydwoma tymi elementami w przeciągu jednego kawałka. Kolejny wielki atut krążka - produkcja. W przypadku wokali, gitar i basu uroczo jeszcze bardziej undergroundowa od "Graves...", za to najbardziej druzgocąca, od strony perkusji z wyraźnym, bardzo wysokim soundem werbla (co świetnie się sprawdza przy tych szybszych fragmentach). Mielizn i słabostek, podobnie jak w przypadku "Graves...", na "Promulgation..." oczywiście brak, toteż sprawa wydaje się jasna i klarowna, wszystkie z kawałków zasługują na polecenie. Noo, może odwróciłbym kolejność między "Only Ashes Remain" a tytułowcem, bo ten drugi jednak zdecydowanie bardziej pasowałby mi tu na intro. Z tym że to już i tak dzielenie włosa na czworo.

Tak czy inaczej, "Promulgation Of The Fall" podołał ciężarowi debiutu, a Grecy zdołali skomponować kolejną porcję intrygującej, ekstremalnej muzyki. Takiej o własnym zamyśle na podziemny klimat.

The Greeks from Dead Congregation started slowly, even doomically, to record the successor to "Graves Of The Archangels". With the current influx of (often shitty) music, there is no point in criticizing the band for such a break - it's better to release albums with longer breaks, and well-thought-out, than in a hurry and bland. Okay, a lot of waiting time is also associated with exaggerated refinement or a loss of authenticity, but I will indicate that there is absolutely no such things in the case of Dead Congregation. "Promulgation Of The Fall" is one of those examples where the passage of time has not abandoned the passion for creating meaningful music. On the contrary, "Promulgation..." can - in a sense - be described as a new quality for the group. 

And this is revealed by...an even stronger descent to the underground sounds! It means that the band decided to put much more emphasis on ugliness and primordiality. It should be noted that the Greeks did not do this in the classical sense. Well, the earlier gloomy climate and brutality are still clearly present here. Well x2, I dare to even say that "Promulgation..." beats "Graves..." in terms of brutality blasting (and the speeds achieved by V.V. can be really captivating - first better examples: "Nigredo" and "From A Wretched Womb"), and this is an extremely interesting result from the perspective of the aforementioned, more dinginess. 

On "Promulgation..." music was created that can captivate with its heaviness (e.g. in the title track, "Schizma" or "Serpentskin"), brutality ("Only Ashes Remain", "Immaculate Poison" or the above-mentioned "Nigredo" and "From A Wretched Womb"), and sometimes it happens that...both of these elements within one track. Another great advantage of the disc - production. In the case of vocals, guitars and bass, it's charmingly even more underground than "Graves...", but the most devastating - the percussion side. with a clear, very high sound of the snare drum (which works great with those faster fragments). Weaknesses, as in the case of "Graves...", on "Promulgation..." obviously missing, so the matter seems clear, all of the songs deserve a recommendation. Well, maybe I would reverse the order between "Only Ashes Remain" and the title track, because the latter, however, would definitely suit me better for the intro. Except that it's already word-splitting. 

Anyway, "Promulgation Of The Fall" coped with the level of its debut, and the Greeks managed to compose another batch of intriguing, extreme music. Such about their own idea for the underground climate.
