Kreator - "Krushers Of The World" (2026)

Nastały takie czasy, że Kreator osadził się w metalowym mainstreamie bardzo wysoko i nic u nich nie wskazuje na chęć powrotu do ostrzejszego (czyt. bez melodyjek) grania. Mnie tam to jednak przestało jakoś dziwić - taka postać rzeczy trwa już od kilku płyt i trudno o większe zmiany w tej kwestii. Minęła ponad dekada, a Kreator nadal siedzi okopany w swojej strefie komfortu i skutecznie klepie kolejne, podobne do siebie albumy, na które trafia bardzo przystępny metal z charakterystycznymi wokalami Millego Petrozzy oraz elementami thrashu. Patent jest to dobrze znany i (znów) nie powinien zaskakiwać, aczkolwiek od nagromadzenia pompatycznych refrenów, banałów w strukturach kawałków i miałkich melodii na "Gods Of Violence" oraz "Hate Über Alles" przyjemność ze słuchania takich płyt była dla mnie bliska zera. Znacznych odstępstw w przypadku nówki z 2026 roku, "Krushers Of The World", również nie odnotowano, ale jego odbiór... nasuwa już trochę inne wnioski.

Przede wszystkim, obojętne nastawienie to chyba najlepsza taktyka obcowania z szesnastym pełniakiem Kreatora czy w ogóle nowszym wydaniem grupy Petrozzy. W ten właśnie sposób zabrałem się za ten album. Nadal oczywiście nie jest to muzyka dla mnie i gdyby nie wyrobiona nazwa starociami, najprawdopodobniej olałbym ten krążek zupełnie - tak jak poprzednie. Na "Krushers Of The World" trafił więc dobrze znany (i przeorany), kreatorowy melodic death/power metal ze śladową ilością thrashu. A mówiąc bardziej po ludzku - granie bliższe Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Powerwolf i Amon Amarth niż teutońskiego thrash metalu. Ponownie, za podstawę robią tu ładne melodyjki, podniosłe refreny, przejrzyste schematy (tak żeby nikt się nie pogubił), bezpieczne przytupy, agresja na zaciągniętym ręcznym i charakterystyczne wokale Mille. Nie znajduję na tym wydawnictwie nic dla siebie, ale resztkami obiektywizmu (?) muszę sprawiedliwie płycie oddać, że gorsza od dwóch poprzednich albumów ona nie jest i ma lepszą produkcję - jak na ironię, zbliżyć się do dołku z "Gods Of Violence" trzeba się trochę postarać.

Do dobrego krążka "Krushers Of The World" jednak też nie dociąga. Caaały materiał należy do mocno wtórnych, nieangażujących i wprost dla tych, którzy metalu na co dzień nie słuchają. Z pozytywów (to chyba za mocne słowo) wyróżniają się "Tränenpalast" z lepiej dopasowanym damskim wokalem niż "Midnight Sun" z poprzedniej płyty, "Seven Serpents" z szybszym rytmem oraz zawierający trochę starego stylu "Barbarian" (chociaż efekt zepsuto przewidywalnym refrenem i melodyjkami). W zestawieniu nie mogło oczywiście zabraknąć komercyjnych i napuszonych utworów, gdzie stężenie lukru wybija poza skalę. Największe potworki to zdecydowanie "Satanic Anarchy" (od dyskotekowego refrenu aż wzdryga), "Blood Of Our Blood", tytułowiec (wybitnie drętwy) oraz "Loyal To The Grave".

Na ten moment, Kreator stał się marką, która ma generować zyski, zapełniać stadiony i trafiać do mas. "Krushers Of The World" spełnia zatem swoją funkcję perfekcyjnie - płytę idealnie podano pod niedzielnych słuchaczy. Niestety, jeśli chodzi o wartości artystyczne, szesnasty longplay grupy Millego Petrozzy nie wnosi niczego interesującego do dyskografii Kreatora i nie czuć po zespole, by chcieli oni coś tym albumem sensownego przekazać. "Krushers Of The World" jest longplayem trochę lepszym od poprzednich dwóch, aczkolwiek nadal obraca się on wokół stylu, który nie leży w kręgu mojego zainteresowania, przez co przypuszczam, że "Krushers..." podzieli losy kilku starszych płyt i wracać do niego nie będę.

The time has come for Kreator to have established themselves firmly within the metal mainstream and there's no indication they're willing to return to a heavier (i.e., melodically-free) sound. However, this hasn't surprised me any longer - this has been the case for several albums now, and it's hard to see any significant changes. Over a decade has passed, and Kreator remains entrenched in their comfort zone, effectively releasing albums that are similar to each other, featuring highly accessible metal with Mille Petrozza's distinctive vocals and elements of thrash metal. This formula is well-known and (again) shouldn't be surprising, although the accumulation of bombastic choruses, clichéd song structures and bland melodies on "Gods Of Violence" and "Hate Über Alles" has reduced my enjoyment of such albums to near zero. No significant deviations were noted in the case of the new release from 2026, "Krushers Of The World", but its reception... suggests slightly different conclusions.

Above all, a neutral attitude is probably the best tactic for dealing with Kreator's sixteenth full-length album or any newer release by Petrozza's band in general. That's how I approached this album. It's still not my cup of tea, of course, and if it weren't for the established huge name, I likely would have ignored it entirely - just like the previous albums. "Krushers Of The World" features Kreator's well-known (and overused) melodic death/power metal with a trace of thrash. Or, to put it more bluntly, the sound is closer to Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Powerwolf and Amon Amarth than to Teutonic thrash metal. Once again, the foundations are soft melodies, bombastic choruses, clear patterns (so no one gets lost), safe stomps, blunted aggression and Mille's characteristic vocals. I don't find anything for myself on this release, but with the last remnants of objectivity (?) I have to give the album justice, it's not worse than the two previous albums and has better production - ironically, getting close to the low point of "Gods Of Violence" takes a bit of effort.

However, "Krushers Of The World" doesn't quite reach the level of a good album. The entire material is highly derivative, unengaging and simply for those who don't normally listen to metal. Among the positives (and that's probably too strong a word), stand out are "Tränenpalast" with its better-suited female vocals than "Midnight Sun" from the previous album, "Seven Serpents" with its faster rhythm and "Barbarian", which has a touch of their old school style (though the effect is spoiled by a predictable chorus and melodies). Of course, the list couldn't be complete without some commercial and bombastic tracks, where the sweetness is off the charts. The biggest blunders are definitely "Satanic Anarchy" (the disco chorus is cringe-worthy), "Blood Of Our Blood", the title track (extremely numb), and "Loyal To The Grave".

At this point, Kreator has become a brand meant to generate profits, fill stadiums, and appeal to the masses. "Krushers Of The World" fulfills its role perfectly - the album is ideally suited to casual listeners. Unfortunately, in terms of artistic merit, Mille Petrozza's sixteenth album doesn't bring anything interesting to Kreator's discography, and the band doesn't seem to want to show anything meaningful with this album. "Krushers Of The World" is slightly better than the previous two, although it still revolves around a style that doesn't appeal to me. Therefore, I suspect it will share the fate of several of its older albums from melodic era, and I won't be revisiting it.
