Benediction - "Organised Chaos" (2001)

Czasem chyba już lepiej nie nagrywać niż nagrywać na siłę. Takie wrażenie miałem przy okazji słuchania "The Dreams You Dread" oraz "Grind Bastard". Jeszcze gorsze towarzyszyły mi przy omawianym "Organised Chaos". Tym razem, do Benediction zawitał Dave Hunt w roli frontmana, unowocześniono aranże, niektóre z kawałków wydłużono oraz pojawiła się okładka w starym stylu - niby co mogło pójść nie tak? Niestety, jak zawartość "Organised..." boleśnie pokazuje, absolutnie wszystko. Najlepsze z tych nowości to uwaga, uwaga...okładka! Pytanie jednak na ile jest to istotne, gdy ocenie poddaje się muzykę. 

No cóż, na swojej szóstej płytce Angole próbują grać jakby ich nagle największym marzeniem byłoby konkurowanie z wynalazkami pokroju Hatebreed, nie oferując niczego szczególnego poza zrzynkami z wspomnianej kapeli czy - po drugiej stronie - patentów mocno przeoranych na poprzednich dwóch longach. Na co im to było, tego nie wiem, ale pewnym jest, że nawet dla największych fanów Benediction będzie to porcja muzyki zupełnie nie do przetrawienia. Co gorsza, już "The Dreams You Dread" oraz "Grind Bastard" mogą pochwalić się ciekawszymi kompozycjami. 

W dużym uproszczeniu, grupa gra tu deathowaty groove metal/grooviasty death metal, a mówiąc bardziej po ludzku - zbyt nowocześnie i nudnawo. Nie trafia do mnie nowy frontman, nie przekonują riffy ani też brutalność, jaką zespół tu oferuje. Z aż 12-u utworów jako tako wybijają się kawałki pokroju "Nothing On The Inside", "Charon" czy "Diary Of A Killer", ale i tym do dobrych czy przyzwoitych nadal niezwykle daleko. Nic to praktycznie nie ma wspólnego z nazwą Benediction. Zdecydowanie lepiej odpalić ich starsze wydawnictwa.

Sometimes it's probably better not to record than to record unnecessarily. I had this impression when I listened to "The Dreams You Dread" and "Grind Bastard". Even worse accompanied me with the discussed "Organized Chaos". This time, Benediction was joined by Dave Hunt as the frontman, the arrangements were modernized, some of the tracks were lengthened and an old-style cover appeared - what could go wrong? Unfortunately, as the all of "Organized ..." painfully shows, absolutely everything. The best of these news is...the cover! That's a sufficient example of how bad the music is here.

Well, on their sixth album, band is trying to play like Hatebreed, offering patterns from the mentioned band or - on the other side - patents heavily plowed on the previous two longs. I don't know what it was for them, but it is certain that even for the biggest fans of Benediction it will be a portion of music that will not be digested. What's worse, already "The Dreams You Dread" and "Grind Bastard" can boast more interesting compositions. 

To put it simply, the group plays deathy groove metal/groovy death metal here, which is too modern and boring. I don't get a new frontman, I'm not convinced by the riffs or the brutality the band offers here. Among the 12 tracks, songs like "Nothing On The Inside", "Charon" or "Diary Of A Killer" stand out, but they are still very far from good or decent. This has virtually nothing to do with the name Benediction. It's definitely better to listen to their older releases.
