The Senseless - "The Buried Life" (2017)

Takie nazwy jak Cephalic Carnage oraz Morbid Angel padały już z mojej strony w kontekście The Senseless. Słuchając "The Buried Life" nachodzi mnie jeszcze na wymienienie...Lykathea Aflame. No dobra, wpływów tej czeskiej ekipy nie ma zbyt wiele na całej tej płycie, ale pomimo ich skromnej ilości i tak potrafią porządnie tutaj namieszać (i nie tylko one...tak naprawdę wszystkie). No a że już poprzednio muzyka Sama Beana szokowała całą masą nietuzinkowych pomysłów, trzecie wydawnictwo jego projektu także pod tym względem nie zawodzi (tym razem nagrywanego full w pojedynkę). 

Ponownie jest to kawał techniczno-progresywnego death-grindu o rock 'n' rollowym posmaku. Sporo tutaj klimatowania mogącego kojarzyć się z wspominanym Lykathea (np. w "Anywhere But Here", "Everything You Asked For" czy "Idlewild"), jeszcze więcej przestrzeni oraz prog metalowych patentów. Na szczęście, nie ma to nic wspólnego z tym, że jest lżej czy jakkolwiek smętnie. Australijczyk po raz kolejny zadbał o porządne riffy, dobrze zaprogramowaną perke, zróżnicowane wokale (choć przeważają growle), parę ciekawych solówek i konkretne popieprzenie materiału (vide "Zui Sheng Meng Si" oraz "Lifequake"). Całościowo, "The Buried Life" nie robi takiego wrażenia jak "The Floating World" czy "In The Realm...", ale trudno nazwać ją jakkolwiek złym krążkiem, jest to po prostu bardzo udana kontynuacja dla fanów poprzednich płyt The Senseless.

Names like Cephalic Carnage and Morbid Angel have already been mentioned by me in the context of The Senseless. When I listen to "The Buried Life" I would mention...Lykathea Aflame. Okay, the influence of this Czech band isn't too much on the entire album, but despite their modest amount, they can still shock (and not only them...actually all of them). Well, since Sam Bean's music previously shocked with a whole lot of extraordinary ideas, the third release of his project also doesen't disappoint in this way (this time it was recorded full solo). 

Again, this is a piece of tech-progressive death-grind with a rock 'n' roll influences. Here is a lot of climate that can be associated with the mentioned Lykathea (e.g. in "Anywhere But Here", "Everything You Asked For" or "Idlewild"), even more space and prog metal patterns. Fortunately, it has nothing to do with being lighter or bleak. Bean once again took care of decent riffs, well-programmed drums, varied vocals (although growls predominate), some interesting solos and specific complexity of the materiall (listen to "Zui Sheng Meng Si" and "Lifequake"). Overall, "The Buried Life" doesen't make such an impression as "The Floating World" or "In The Realm...", but it's still hard to call it a bad album, it's just a very successful sequel for fans of previous The Senseless albums.
